The supporting actors are also superb, Pierre Blaise (unforgettable hero Lacombe Lucien ) in human lucid but fragile child and especially a beautiful Adriana Asti maid demand morbid physical love. Bolognini gives the same thoroughness to his asylum (the film was shot in a true asylum, the presence of fools directing the actors' performance) than most shimmering period decor that his other films, the exterior is barely glimpsed for a camera oppressive. The conclusion is also scathing when it finally leaves the scene: the discourse of black tunics vindictive appears hardly more sense than the fools we worked alongside the film.
