Does Kidney Failure Cause Double Vision

bas- funds - Kitty, Mitchell Leisen (1945)

the eighteenth century in London, the social rise of a young woman of low extraction, first noticed by the painter Gainsborough then courted by a wealthy dandy.

A superb historical epic and romance perfectly conducted by Leisen and illuminated by the beauty and charm of Paulette Goddard. The historical aspect is reflected in the figure of the painter Gainsborough which will swing the fate of Kitty (Paulette Goddard), a young street girl whom he spotted grace under the rags and harsh ways sto make the portrait. Therefore the nobles subjugated by the table will no doubt seek to know what the lovely model will enjoy the noble in disgrace and a little crook Hugh Darcy (Ray Milland) who will collect it in order to make and deliver a Lady the highest bidder. The novel aspect in this relationship is therefore a little sordid as Kitty will accept all these troubles to win the hearts of Darcy that she fell in love.

On a nearby screen, this Kitty dares many more things that Amber Preminger released the same period. The opening in the filthy slums of London is a stark Paulette Goddard who put their hearts delight in madcap young slut with mocking emphasis. His gradual transformation and hardworking lady in the world is superbly led and offers cheerful comic moments through the awkwardness of the heroine (Paulette Goddard, who took a shrill and acute phrasing hilarious to signify its low extraction) whose fate is not laughing Despite the upbeat tone of the film. Ray Milland plays a cad as throughout the story as the ultimate in romantic tradition where the couple ends up can not be totally satisfactory.

The script (adapted from a novel by Rosamond Marshall) queries as well as on the condition that the class position of women in this period. Kitty turns to be the plaything of men, the man she loves jumping into the arms of others in order to elevate his position while never changing his view of it because of its modest means. It will take to become a true Lady Kitty and see the deference of other men of his stature Duchess once at the top for Milland understand his mistake.

Any scenes learning about the world (with an excellent Constance Collier in noble somewhat ragged and alcoholic) underline even further allieurs macho because this conditioning whole education of women is the concealment of feelings and seduction at the expense of developing a true entrepreneurial spirit in the image of Milland sarcastic when trying to learn to write to Kitty. Women are beautiful objects that we have issues where the highest bidder. The film is fascinating in showing the ascension of this street girl without otherwise circumvent unsavory aspect even if they are not supported (with a big wedding louts, then with a crumbling old unwanted pregnancy ... surprising when one sees all that has been evaded by adapting Amber ) where the sees acquire real nobility of spirit and style in his discovery of the world. Despite moments distilled to signify repentance and awareness of Milland can not be completely satisfied to see her finish in her arms, the ambiguity of the novel in fact.

Leisen delivers a visually stunning object where black and white does not alter at all the vision of what kind of story that is more used to enjoy in blazing Technicolor. Initially a modest bill, the film was embellished over the insurance and rising ever higher in the heroin for the last part chaining moments, sumptuous sets and costumes such as a ballroom scene was magnificent and beautiful views of the apartments of the Duchess. Paulette Goddard is stunning from beginning to end, as that poor woman tossed Duchess port and requires a perfect humor, charm and playfulness contagious. This is also the opportunity to imagine how wonderful it would have done Scarlett since the role of a breath escaped him in favor of Vivien Leigh. Ray Milland also very good but may fail to reveal the small facet of humanity that might help get his attitude and accept the conclusion, it is far from Clark Gable in Gone with the Wind compared for this type of role. However beautiful mural for lovers of this type of story!

Alas the film is still unpublished in dvd zone 1 zone 2, but as is often shown on TCM as part of the cycle Mitchell Leisen be vigilant for registration!

Some pictures of the movie you just obstruct the ears because of the song by Mika ...
